TTAD agreed and passed on the monies to pay for the upgrades to the building up to the amount of 25K and we the EAA gathered more members and did the job through volunteer membership help and local community support from Western Nevada Supply…the major contributor to the building. They supplied all the two furnaces, ducting, electrical wiring and accessories. Truckee Tahoe Lumber supplied sheet rock, insulation and paint. Perata Excavation supplied all the equipment and resources to bring electricity, gas and sewage to the building.

The Chapter hangar was divided into two areas for reconstruction. The first side is the current meeting area including the kitchen, board room/pilots lounge and bathrooms. Once completed and open for habitation the chapter immediately began instruction which continued over the next four years to the Tahoe Truckee Unified School District youths.

The course contained one carrot…graduate with a “C” and you got a ride in any aircraft within the membership, which had and still has a wide variety. My VariEze was the “E” ticket ride at the time so I gave many of the those first rides along with many other members through the “Young Eagle” program.
